What does "momme" mean?
"Momme" is a standard term for the quality of silk, just as the term "carat" is used to describe the value of gold or diamonds. The momme value of a fabric is determined by the weight of a set size of the material.
For silk bedding a momme weight of 12-16 is considered good quality, a momme value of 16-19 means very high quality.

Washing and ironing
What is the best way to wash silk?
- Hand-wash or machine wash at 30 degrees centigrade with a colour protective mild detergent fit for silk. Hand-wash: rinse with tepid water.
- Machine wash: pick the most 'quiet’ setting at 30 degrees centigrade. Do not centrifuge.
- Shake off superfluous water and hang out to dry.
- Do not dry in the sun or near a radiator. Do not dry in tumble dryer.
- The slightly moist silk can be ironed at the ‘silk’ setting (usually one dot) of the iron. Preferably iron at the back/inside.
- In general: never use chemical detergents. Do not add bleach, do not scrub, do not wring, do not put into tumble dryer.
- Silk can also be dry-cleaned.
If you make use of these tips your silk will remain beautiful longer.
