Kind of silk: satin silk. Satin silk (also known as charmeuse silk) can be draped beautifully, has a soft feel to it and is also strong and durable. The weaving technique used is satin weave. With this technique, threads can be woven very close to one another so that the fabric becomes supple, smooth and shiny. This gives the fabric a luxurious look.

Washing and ironing
What is the best way to wash silk?
- Hand-wash or machine wash at 30 degrees centigrade with a colour protective mild detergent fit for silk. Hand-wash: rinse with tepid water.
- Machine wash: pick the most 'quiet’ setting at 30 degrees centigrade. Do not centrifuge.
- Shake off superfluous water and hang out to dry.
- Do not dry in the sun or near a radiator. Do not dry in tumble dryer.
- The slightly moist silk can be ironed at the ‘silk’ setting (usually one dot) of the iron. Preferably iron at the back/inside.
- In general: never use chemical detergents. Do not add bleach, do not scrub, do not wring, do not put into tumble dryer.
- Silk can also be dry-cleaned.
If you make use of these tips your silk will remain beautiful longer.
